Hay Season Has Come to a Close

The last few bales were picked up out of the field the other day so hay season is officially over. Being a city kid, cutting a bunch of grass is a lot more complicated than I figured it would be. The machinery is tough to keep running right and counting on a short window in the weather for everything to dry out properly and get it out of the field adds to the stress.

However, hay season has quickly become one of my favorite times of the year. I get to spend some cab time in the tractor, swathing the grass, raking the windrows, and practicing my skills unloading dozens and dozens of semi trucks full of hay. It is an intensely fast paced time of year and the long days fly by. Being able to grow some of the groceries that our girls love to eat is a very rewarding activity to be a part of at the ranch.
