Meet Lola
Meet our girl Lola, just like every animal in the herd, every calf has a very unique personality. Since Lola was a bottle calf we got to raise her from the beginning. With feeding her a bottle morning and night as well as spend a lot of time with her we quickly learned her unique quirks. Lola here is by far the most attached bottle calf we have ever had. Most calves learn that the bottle means food, and it doesn’t really matter who is feeding them. Not with Lola, she has seemed to have picked Ryley as her one parent. If he is out of town or doesn't get to feed the kids cause he is off doing another chore she throws a fit and some times refuses to eat (luckily Ryley pretty much never miss a feeding lol). She is the most temperamental yet loving calf that we have raised and boy do we love her for it.
Lola has been weened off a bottle for a few weeks now and is loving life up in the barn with all the other weened calves. Luckily her fits and temperament has not changed a bit. When any of us drive or walk up to the barn for morning and afternoon feeding she is the first (and usually the only one) to be yelling her head off as if to tell us how late we are. Her vocal rampages do not seem to change no matter how early we are to feed her, I would like to think it is just her way of saying I love you, but it's most likely her way of saying "you’re late" haha.
