Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to all the hardworking parents out there.

Every year we ask our father what he wants to do for Father’s Day and he never fails to reply with “I get to be a dad every day, let’s have another good day” so today has been another day in paradise. My brother has been swathing a hay field, my sister has been burning some brush, dad has been feeding cows and working with our web designer and I have been working around the barnyard as well as welding a broken piece of equipment. At the end of the day we will all meet back at the farmhouse for a steak dinner and good family conversation which I know my dad would call “another good day” (mission accomplished.)

It’s hard to believe that we have been at the ranch for nearly 12 years but I am thankful every day that my father had the tenacity to move our family out of the city. He also drove the move in such considerate fashion to make sure we were all on board. Many people have asked me if my dad just “up and moved the family” and my answer is always no. We talked about the move the entire time we searched for a ranch, which was around 6 years. At the dinner table we commonly discussed fears, excitements, expectations and hesitations that each family member had for moving. By the time dad and I found the ranch it was apparent that it was everyone’s dream to move here, we were all ready. My father made such a drastic lifestyle change seamless which I am constantly impressed and grateful for. Thanks, Dad.
