Meet Butterscotch

Meet a cow Monday! Meet Butterscotch this dashing half wagyu half red Devon steer! Have you ever been around a person who is just too cool for pretty much everything? The whole group will be totally stoked up over something and they’re just chilling out and couldn’t be bothered? Well that’s Butterscotch. All his buds are gathered around me getting in close curious about what I’m doing, not him he’s hanging out enjoying the shade casted on him by one of his friends hardly looking in my direction. What a chill dude.

I have mentioned this before but a large aspect of our daily activities revolve around keeping our cattle calm. We work close with them daily to encourage docile and friendly behavior. For example, instead of strictly using big bale feeders some of our pens utilize bunk feeders that we hand pitch fork hay into! This is much more time consuming and labor intensive however it allows us and our cattle to be much closer during feeding time which in turn creates a much more docile group of cattle.
